This Round's on Me

I always feel that the most challenging space to complete and be satisfied with is my very own home.  Right now you might be able to see in the grainy image above, I am attempting to create a charming and yet functional bar area on top of my existing wine rack.  Currently it is a haven for various pieces I have collected, a beautiful blue platter from Mexico, a framed watercolor I bought from a street artist last summer, vintage Russel Wright pieces and a fluffy little jade plant.

Recently I've wandered one of my local antique haunts, the Ravenswood Antique Mart, and fallen in love with a couple glass decanters of the Italian and Danish persuasion.

This green glass container and glass set is from Italy and sports it's original stickers from the manufacturer.  I'd probably be the first user, after all these years.  Such a pretty color and a great little set.

Aren't these pieces charming?  The colors are fabulous and the round stoppers are in perfect shape!  Check out some other amazing bar carts, trays and tables that have inspired my quest for a chic bar set-up in my own home.  I think it may have all begun when I saw a few of these pictures on a wonderful blog I read daily, Habitually Chic.  She really has a great eye and inspires me nearly every day.

The bottle of Pimm's reminds me of my summer studying at Oxford.  Oh the memories.

Love the funky clear bottles.  So simple.  So cool.

More great bottles.  Do I have an obsession? (Paco Munoz)

Fun!  Definitely inspires me to have a party. (Miles Redd)

I certainly don't have space for a table this size, but doesn't it look so luxurious to spread out all the options for your guests?  Love it! (Thom Filicia)

What else will I need to complete my miniature bar?  Perhaps a fabulous vintage ice bucket and a great lucite tray?  Cocktails anyone?  Well, maybe once the bar is all set.  Though, I am sure I'll discover some other area of my home that will be in need of perfection or a little reworking before I allow anyone over for a drink.  Now, to make my blurry wine rack into something a little more fabulous...

Day 1. Post 1.

Hello everyone out there!

Today starts my first foray into the blog world.  Hopefully this will be a forum for me to discuss life, living, eating, designing and just flat out doing on a daily basis.  Be patient with me as I muddle through the start of this blog.  I will begin posting images and regular commentary as I get the hang of this.  For now though, enjoy what's left of this amazing Sunday afternoon.

I can't wait to begin writing and sharing my daily inspiration as a designer, self made chef and newly realized adult.  (The adult part was the most shocking realization of all!)
